Downtown Sacramento, State Capitol Tour, Raley Field
Inbound from Tuxtla GutiƩrrez Mexico, Day 2 of 8, Aug 1, 2017

Today was ‘Sac Day’ – activities in the downtown Sacramento area.
The morning was free but many of our Tuxtla ambassadors went to see Sutter’s Fort, with its ties to history and the 1848 gold discovery.

Lunch on our own at various restaurants in the area – Ambrosia, Tank House etc.
Our ambassadors then met at 1pm for a tour of the Sacramento State Capitol building, lead by a Spanish-speaking docent.

The afternoon was free, many went to Old Town Sacramento to do some shopping – souvenirs, some of the shops have quirky things fun to look at. Others went to Crocker Art Museum.
Club members joined our Ambassadors from Mexico for some River Cats baseball fun. We met at 5:30pm at Raley Field in West Sacramento for a short tour of Raley Field, where the River Cats play. After a quick tour and photos on the field, everyone enjoyed the game along with $1 hot dogs, ice cream and Merlinos (shaved ice treats).

The 'hit' of the evening was when each Ambassador received a white River Cat baseball cap. Showing off some hospitality...Sacramento FF style!

The River Cats played against the Baby Cakes from New Orleans, Louisiana. We left at the bottom of the 8th inning – River Cats were ahead by 6 – 0. While we were walking through the concession area, there was a large BANG! – We all jumped. A foul ball hit the trashcan right beside us. Silvia picked it up – and jumped up and down with joy! A perfect souvenir of the ball park.
